Karen Kun is the Founder of Waterlution and a Co-Founder of Greatness: The Great Lakes Project.

Ontario to me is about the Great Lakes, and watching Lake Ontario change through the seasons. I cannot count the times that my family walked the shores of Lake Ontario from our home down to Rattray Marsh. There was no amount of snow, wind, or rain that kept us away throughout the year. I recall my parents saying that we had to adapt for the weather outside. As a young child I felt a kinship with the trees on the shore as I knew they too were adapting with the weather outside. I left Canada in my twenties and lived in many other countries, yet nowhere else felt like home. I learned during that time how lost I was without my lake nearby. These days I get to pass on the tradition to my son and, no matter what the weather is outside, he too never says no to a walk by the lake.
