Germaine Arnaktauyok powerfully visualizes the natural phenomena of thunder and lightning from Inuit oral mythology. Two mistreated orphaned sisters who, after their death, return to seek vengeance by snapping a dried sealskin and crashing two stones together in the sky.
Germaine Arnaktauyok is a drawer, painter, and printmaker renowned for her contributions to Inuit art. She was born in Igloolik, Nunavut, and now resides in Yellowknife.
Germaine Arnaktauyok visualise avec force les phénomènes naturels du tonnerre et des éclairs de la mythologie orale inuite. Deux sœurs orphelines maltraitées qui, après leur mort, reviennent se venger en cassant une peau de phoque séchée et en frappant deux pierres ensemble dans le ciel.
