The Land # 26
Parksville, BC — acrylic on canvas / acrylique sur toile — 1972
Takao Tanabe’s landscape highlights our rectilinear imposition on the wild of the natural world. Everything linear is owned, productive, and controlled. The remnant of life out of our control is a thin strip along the horizon.
Takao Tanabe, CM, OBC is a landscape and abstract painter who has received several awards for his work, including the Audain Prize for Lifetime Achievement in the Visual Arts and the Governor General’s Award in the Visual and Media Arts. He was born in Prince Rupert, British Columbia.
