“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to
your service…”

—Princess Elizabeth, April 21, 1947

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne upon the death of her father, King George VI on February 6, 1952 and, after her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria, has become only the second Canadian monarch ever to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee.

The Queen of Canada has been served by 12 Governors General, 11 Prime Ministers and 12 Lieutenant Governors of Ontario. She has been a constant for generations of Canadians in her role as the head of the Commonwealth.

Diamond Jubilee EmblemLoyal she began, loyal she remains is Ontario’s official motto and can also describe our Queen. Presented here are 60 images from Her Majesty’s 60 years of service to her people. These photos, all taken while The Queen has been on tour in Ontario, show six decades of Her Majesty’s devotion and service to Canada.
